About me

I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Computational Biology in the School of Computer Science, the University of Birmingham. I am also an affiliate of the Centre for Computational Biology. Previously, I was a Bridging the Gap research fellow, a Wellcome Trust Value in People fellow, a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow and a research associate, all in the same school. I obtained my PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics from the University of Liverpool in  2007.

My research interests include complex network analysis, data mining, optimisation, agent-based modelling and their applications to biological and clinical problems.

I am an Associate Editor of  IEEE Transactions on Nanobioscience. I also serve as the Editorial Board Member of Complex & Intelligent Systems (Springer).

I am looking for highly-motivated PhD students to work closely with me on the multi-disciplinary research areas in computational biology and computational intelligence. If you are interested, please email me to discuss potential projects and scholarship opportunities.
