The History of Computer Science 2000 - Present

2001

The School of Computer Science moves from Aston Web to a new building as part of the West Campus redevelopment.

A major updating of the School's degree programmes sees the BSc in Computer Science/Software Engineering replaced by BEng and MEng programmes of the same title and the first intake to a new programme, the BSc in Computer Science. The MSc in Natural Computation is added to the School's portfolio of MSc programmes.

As part of an AWM funded project, the School of Computer Science installs the UK's first Itanium2 based 64bit cluster.

2004

The BSc in Computer Science/Software Engineering is replaced by the BSc in Computer Science with Business Management. The MSc in Internet Software Systems has its first intake.

2006

A significant expansion of the School's MSc programmes increases their number to six, adding the MSc in Computer Security and the MSc in Intelligent Systems Engineering.
