Biography
Stephen Pillinger started his career at The University of Birmingham as a Trainee Electronics Technician in 1983 working in a number of departments including Chemistry, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics, Engineering Production and Computer Science. He completed his degree in Software Engineering whilst working as an Electronics Technician before becoming a Computer Officer in the School of Computer Science.
He is now employed as a Senior Experimental Computing Specialist providing specialist support to the School.
Steve has significant experience working and managing heterogeneous computing environments, including integration of systems. He is an experienced systems administrator having worked with Solaris, Linux and Active Directory environments. Having worked with network attached storage for a number of years is he experienced with managing NetApp file servers, Samba and ZFS.
