Scholarships for International Students

Undergraduate International Scholarships

Undergraduate International Scholarships

  • An 'entry scholarship' of £1500 will be awarded to all students who are categorised as overseas for fees purposes. This scholarship will be automatically retained for each year of study, provided that the student proceeds normally to the next level of study. Students who fail on academic grounds to proceed to the next level of study will forfeit this award.
  • An additional 'excellence scholarship' of £1900 will be awarded to international students with an excellent academic standard. To retain the 'excellence scholarship', students must continue to perform at First Class level – i.e. they must achieve an average mark of at least 70% at the end of each year. The University's decision on whether a qualification is deemed as ‘excellent’ is final.

There is no special application process for the above scholarships – the awards will be made automatically to all eligible students admitted to the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham who commence their studies in the October of their year of entry.

In all cases students may only receive one award from the University or School. If you are eligible for more than one, the award with the highest value will be selected. Students who are in receipt of support from other funding bodies that entirely cover their tuition fees are not eligible for any of the awards. Part-funded students will have any award for which they are eligible reduced in proportion to the level of support provided - please contact the Admissions Tutor for details.

Students who were not awarded a scholarship on entry are not eligible for renewed scholarships.

To be eligible for one of the above scholarships students must make Birmingham their firm choice before 1st August.
