Undergraduate Scholarships and Bursaries


The School of Computer Science offers scholarships and bursaries for both Home/EU and International students wishing to study for an undergraduate degree in a Computer Science subject. Scholarships are awarded to students who have, or expect to achieve, excellent academic results and are available to students in the following programmes:

  • BSc Computer Science
  • BEng/MEng Computer Science and Software Engineering
  • BSc Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science
  • BSc Computer Science with Business Management

Home/EU Students Only

A-Level Excellence Scholarship (all eligible for Interview)

  • £1500 scholarship, tenable for one year, will be awarded to any undergraduate student who achieves three A grades at A-level
  • £1000 scholarship, tenable for one year, will be awarded to any undergraduate student who achieves AAB grades at A-level
  • £500 scholarship, tenable for one year, will be awarded to any undergraduate student who achieves ABB grades at A-level

Non A-Level Excellence Scholarship for students domiciled in the UK

  • £1500 scholarship, tenable for one year, awarded on the basis of excellent academic results.
  • Any student receiving this award is eligible to participate in the interview process and may be awarded a scholarship as a result.

Non A-Level Excellence Scholarship for students domiciled outside of the UK

  • £2000 scholarship, tenable for one year, awarded on the basis of excellent academic results.
  • Any student receiving this award is eligible to participate in the interview process however no scholarship will be awarded as a result.

Interview

  • Any eligible person attending an interview may, on the basis of performance during the interview, receive £500 in addition to the award of any of the applicable scholarships listed above.

To be eligible for one of the above scholarships students must make Birmingham their firm choice before 1st August.

Paul and Yuanbi Ramsay Undergraduate Bursary

  • £1000 per annum, tenable for three years, to one undergraduate student in need of financial assistance. For further details, please contact Jayne Green, Student Funding Office, 0121 414 2751. Email: financialsupport@bham.ac.uk

    Please Note:

    • In all cases students may only receive one award from the University or School. If you are eligible for more than one, the award with the highest value will be selected. Students who are in receipt of support from other funding bodies that entirely covers their tuition fees are not eligible for any of the awards. Part-funded students will have any award for which they are eligible reduced in proportion to the level of support provided - please contact the Admissions Tutor for details.  
    • The scholarship awards will be deducted from tuition fees payable to the University.
    • Further conditions will apply. These will be specified in the scholarship offer letter.
