Introduction to AI

Overview

These are the web pages for the Introduction to AI module. They will host all the content supplied to get you through the module, and will also provide pointers for places to help you explore the subject further.

The module is delivered by Nick Hawes. If you wish to see Nick outside the lectures and labs then please email him, or go to his office hour on Wednesdays at 12:30 (no appointment needed).

For copies of lecture slides and information on the required reading see the notes page. For the assessed exercises, see the exercises page. The weekly online reading tests (including the test for the first week) are available on WebCT. Any other content will be added here as necessary. Please also make sure you check your Computer Science email account on a daily basis as important information will be sent to you by email.

Required Textbook

For most lectures in this module you will be set some required pre-reading. This reading will be taken from Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach by Stuart Russell and Peter Norvig, Third Edition. Waterstones on campus will have it in stock as it is part of the School of Computer Science reading list. If you find a good eBook version, I'd like to hear from you (as the hardcopy is really heavy!).

If you don't want to buy the book yourself you can find a small number of copies in the main library and school library.
