This REF  file  details  the  procedures supplied  by  the  two  library
packages  LIB * FAST_XT_WIDGETCLASS   and   LIB * XT_WIDGETCLASS   which
provide the Pop-11 interface to some  X Toolkit routines related to  the
type and class specifications of widgets.

1  Introduction
---------------

The following functions divide themselves into two sections:

    #  Finding the (super)class of widgets.
    #  Checking the class of widgets.

Note: XtInitializeWidgetClass is documented in REF * XT_INIT.

The  exact  structure  of  arguments  and  results  for  the   following
procedures is as discussed in REF * XTOOLKIT.

XtClass(widget) -> widgetclass                               [procedure]
        Returns the class widgetclass of the widget widget.


XtSuperclass(widget) -> widgetclass                          [procedure]
        Returns the superclass widgetclass of the widget widget.


XtIsSubclass(widget, widgetclass) -> bool                    [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget is a subclass of the widget  class
        widgetclass, false otherwise.


XtIsObject(widget) -> bool                                   [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget is a subclass of the Object widget
        class, false otherwise.


XtIsRectObj(widget) -> bool                                  [procedure]
        Returns true  if widget  widget  is a  subclass of  the  RectObj
        widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsWidget(widget) -> bool                                   [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget is a subclass of the Widget widget
        class, false otherwise.


XtIsComposite(widget) -> bool                                [procedure]
        Returns true if  widget widget  is a subclass  of the  Composite
        widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsConstraint(widget) -> bool                               [procedure]
        Returns true if widget  widget is a  subclass of the  Constraint
        widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsShell(widget) -> bool                                    [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget is a subclass of the Shell  widget
        class, false otherwise.


XtIsOverrideShell(widget) -> bool                            [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget is a subclass of the OverrideShell
        widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsWMShell(widget) -> bool                                  [procedure]
        Returns true  if widget  widget  is a  subclass of  the  WMShell
        widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsTransientShell(widget) -> bool                           [procedure]
        Returns  true   if  widget   widget  is   a  subclass   of   the
        TransientShell widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsTopLevelShell(widget) -> bool                            [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget is a subclass of the TopLevelShell
        widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsApplicationShell(widget) -> bool                         [procedure]
        Returns  true   if  widget   widget  is   a  subclass   of   the
        ApplicationShell widget class, false otherwise.


XtIsVendorShell(widget) -> bool                              [procedure]
        Returns true if widget widget  is a subclass of the  VendorShell
        widget class, false otherwise.

4  Autoloadable Functions
-------------------------

The following function is  autoloadable and not  directly loaded by  the
library LIB * FAST_XT_WIDGETCLASS. See REF * LIBRARY for more details on
autoloading.


fast_XtIsWidget(widget) -> bool                              [procedure]
        As for XtIsWidget  but without  checks for  valid arguments.  As
        always the non-checking procedure should  only be used in  fully
        debugged programs. See  REF * XTOOLKIT for full  details of  the
        Poplog  X  naming  conventions  for  non-checking  and  checking
        procedures.
