Dr. Li received the B.S.E. and M.S.E. degrees from Kun-ming University of Science and Technology, Kun-ming, P. R. China, and the Ph.D degree from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, in 1992, 1995, and 1997, respectively, all in mechanical engineering. From April 1998 to Oct. 2000, he was a Research Fellow of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. From Nov. 2000 to Nov. 2002 He was a Research Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools, Hannover University, Germany. From Nov. 2002 to Sept. 2003, he was a Postdoc fellow at the Dept. of Automation & Computer – Aided Engg, Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2002, he also was appointed as professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Yanshan University China.

Dr. Cai is a Professor with School of Computer Engineering (SCE) at Nanyang Technological University

 (NTU), Singapore, and the Director of Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science, from University of Exeter (UK) in 1991. Prof. Cai's current research interests include: Parallel & Distributed Simulation, Multi-agent Systems, and Grid & Cluster Computing. His main areas of expertise are the design and analysis of scalable architecture, framework, and protocols to support parallel & distributed simulation, and the development of models and software tools for programming parallel/distributed systems. He has authored or co-authored over 180 journal and conference papers in the above areas, and six of his recent research papers won best paper awards in the following international conferences: EuroSIW'03ESS'03EuroSIW'04DS-RT'04EuroSIW'05, and PADS’06. His recent research has focused on system support for distributed simulation/virtual environments, and modeling and simulation of large-scale complex systems. 

 

Prof. Cai is a member of the IEEE. He is currently an associate editor of ACM Transactions on Modeling and Computer Simulation (TOMACS), and editorial board member of Multiagents and Grid Systems – An International Journal

.  He was also an editorial board member of International Journal of Computers and Applications from 2004 to Mar 2009.  Dr. Cai is the programme co-chair of DS-RT’09 and programme vice chair of EUC’08CCGrid'06 and PDCAT'04, and has served as programme committee member for many international conferences. 

Prof. Stephen John Turner (ASSJTurner@ntu.edu.sg)

Stephen John Turner

Prof. Stephen Turner joined Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) in 1999 and is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Engineering and Director of the Parallel and Distributed Computing Centre.  Previously, he was a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Exeter University (UK). He received his MA in Mathematics and Computer Science from Cambridge University (UK) and his MSc and PhD in Computer Science from Manchester University (UK). 

His current research interests include: parallel and distributed simulation, distributed virtual environments, grid computing, parallel algorithms and languages, and multi-agent systems. He is steering committee chair of the PADS (Principles of Advanced and Distributed Simulation) conference and advisory committee member and general chair of the DS-RT (Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications) symposium. He is a member of IEEE (IEEE Computer Society), SCS (Society for Modeling and Simulation) and BCS (British Computer Society).
