Moving house at the start of my PhD in January 2002.
The girls in student services submitting my thesis in June 2006,
and then inside and outside the Great Hall just afterwards.
We went on a long holiday
after the PhD was submitted, first North and then South. We met a
Viking family at the 5000 year old village of Skara
Brae on the Mainland island in Orkney. We also met a 5000 year old
gentleman at the Tomb of the Eagles museum on South Ronaldsay. After a 750
mile drive south we then met
a Roman
family at Brading Roman Villa, Isle of Wight.
August 2010. Following in the footsteps of the Swallows and Amazons we
intended to
visit Ramp Holme on Windermere by canoe. However, the weather blew up
with 'white-tops' in the middle of the lake. We therefore had to be
content with canoeing towards it from a distance and
getting a lake cruise around it for a closer look.
