Reader in Computer Science
I am a Reader in the School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham. Before joining UoB in 1998, I was a Research Fellow at the Computer Technology Institute (the PiSMA project) and a Consultant for European Dynamics S.A. In 2008-2009 I was a Senior Fellow (on sabbatical) at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
I received a Diploma (5-year degree) in Computer Engineering from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras, Greece and an "MSc by research" (now called MPhil, ParSiFal Group) and a PhD (AMULET/APT Group) in Computer Science, both from the School of Computer Science, University of Manchester, UK.
My timetable for the current term is here.
In the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Academic Ranking of World Universities (2008), the University of Birmingham is ranked 91st in the world and 30th in Europe. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings the University of Birmingham is ranked 75th in the world and 25th in Europe. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in the UK, the School of Computer Science ranked 7th in the country in the proportion of 4* awards (research outputs that are world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour).
