CALL FOR PAPERS
Load Balancing in Distributed
Simulations
Special Session of the 2003 High Performance
& Large Scale Computing Conference
Nottingham,
UK
Session
Chair: Dr. Georgios K. Theodoropoulos, University of Birmingham, U.K.
A Special Session on "Load Balancing in Distributed
Simulations" is planned as part of the 2003 High Performance & Large Scale Computing
Conference, which will be held in conjunction with the 17th European Simulation Multiconference (ESM
2003), June 9 - 11, 2003, Nottingham,
UK.
Selected papers from this session will be published in
a special issue of the International Journal of Simulation: Systems, Science & Technology, a
publication of the United Kingdom Simulation Society
The need for synchronisation renders load balancing techniques
developed for conventional parallel and distributed systems insufficient. Substantial
effort has been put into developing appropriate load balancing algorithms for both
conservative and optimistic distributed simulations, ranging from static, centralised
approaches to highly decentralised and dynamic schemes. The purpose of this
Special Session is to provide a vehicle for reporting state-of-the-art
developments in this field. Papers reporting original and unpublished research results on this
topic are solicited.
Authors are invited to submit an electronic copy of their manuscript to
the Session Chair:
