Research Areas
Natural computation is the study of computational systems that use ideas and get inspiration from natural systems, including biological, ecological and physical systems. It is an emerging interdisciplinary area in which a range of techniques and methods are studied for dealing with large, complex, and dynamic problems.
Natural Computation Research in our School is carried out by a number of individuals and small groups with interests which cover:
Together we are an associate node of EvoNet, the European Network of Excellence in Evolutionary Computation, also a node of EUNITE, the European Network on Intelligent Technologies for Smart Adaptive Systems.
We naturally have close associations and overlaps with the Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science researchers in our School, and hold a joint Seminar Series with them. We also have associations with the Vision and Image Processing researchers.
