I am Joe, a first year PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Shishir Nagaraja as part of the Security & Privacy Group. My main research interests are:

  • Security
  • Privacy
  • Secure Communication
  • Malware Command and Control

I am also an senior teaching assistant, with my current main responsibilities being the MSc/ICY Software Workshop Java module and Network Security.

I have been a student at Birmingham since 2008, with my current set of qualifications being:

  • BSc Computer Science (Hons), University of Birmingham (2008-2011)
  • MSc in Computer Security (with Distinction), University of Birmingham (2011-2012)

During the academic year 2012-13, I was a Research Assistant to Dr Nagaraja. This culminated in a time spent at Microsoft Research India in Bangalore, where I undertook the position of Research Intern, under the supervision of Ranjita Bhagwan.

I am a keen Ultimate Frisbee player. I occasionally play with the university team, but lately I am mainly associated with Birmingham Ultimate.
