Dr Noureddin Sadawi
Thank you for visiting my web page. I completed my PhD here under the supervision of Dr Volker Sorge. My thesis was entitled "A Rule-based Approach for Recognition of Chemical Structure Diagrams".
Here's a photo after passing my PhD viva with the chair of my viva and my examiners (NO prize for guessing who the special guest was!!).
When I completed my Doctorate, the School of Computer Science was ranked first in the UK by the Guardian. I'm really proud to have studied and worked here. Click here for more information.
Throughout my PhD I worked as a java tutor with Dr Steve Vickers and Dr Matt Smart, and then with Dr Peter Tino and Dr Seyyed Shah. Also, I sometimes helped with lab sessions and demonstration for some other programming languages related modules.
After passing the viva, I was responsible for dealing with user and impact study for a number of projects. The main project was MaxTract with Dr Volker Sorge and Dr Josef Baker. I also worked on other projects with Prof Xin Yao, Prof Mark Ryan and Prof Ela Claridge
I was also involved in many other activities such as:
- I was a member of the organizing committee of the Conferences on Intelligent Computer Mathematics (CICM) 2008. Click here for the poster which I designed
- I organized The Scientific Document Analysis Group (SDAG)'s weekly meetings (previously biweekly)
- I provided voluntary project guidance and consultation for various project types. Previous projects included Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis Applications, Database Applications, Web Applications and Network Applications
