Starting the SICStus Prolog top-level

This page describes how to start the SICStus Prolog interpreter. You can then type queries directly into the interpreter. To develop and execute a program, you need to use the sections on creating a project and loading a file.

  1. Start Eclipse
  2. Select the Eclipse IDE

     

  3. Set a Workspace
  4. The Workspace is where you will store your files. In this example, a Workspace is set up for a Tutorial sheet.

  5. Dismiss the Welcome to Eclipse page (if it appears)
  6.  

  7. Start SICStus Prolog running
  8. Select "Open Toplevel" from the SICStus menu

  9. Increase the size of the SICStus pane
  10. You may find it more convenient to increase the size of the SICStus pane so you can see more of the history of your interaction.

  11. Execute your queries
  12. You can type queries that use inbuilts in Prolog directly into the SICStus Prolog interpreter. This example is a simple unification.

  13. Exiting Eclipse
  14. When you have finished, simply select "Exit" from the File menu.
