Personal

 I am actively involved in consultancy and external projects, in a number of guises.

Direct

I am available to work directly, through my consultancy company NFW Ltd. or through my partnership RTS (depending on the project). RTS/NFW manages both my persoanl consultancy work, and also project manages much larger contracts, bring together whatever expertise is required to solve problems for clients.

NFW has been running for ten years, producing high-quality work for major clients. As well as building specialised teams for high-quality research or problem-solving work, NFW also offers courses in programming languages and new technologies, and offers executive technical briefings.

RTS provides an agile organisation structure on top of specific expertise and skillsets, and is particularly responsive to innovative projects with a focus on user-centered design and usability

Past clients include: BT, Marconi, Sony, Swiss merchant bank, online e-commerce companies, DERA, Keele University, BECTA, numerous SME's.

Personal development/Leadership training/Teamwork

Also on offer are personal development and leadership training courses, using water and land based activities to build teamwork, confidence, communication and leadership skills. Courses can be focussed on individuals or groups, and targetted to inmprove specific aspects. Activities include problem solving, archery, raft-building, sailing a 34' yacht, canoeing, and so on. University of Birmingham

Manufacturing Advisory Service (DTI funded): under this programme, manufacturing companies in the West Midlands can obtain 6 days of paid-for consultancy. Areas I cover are related to my research interests, and also
  • commercial strategies
  • integration of new technologies
  • e-business and e-learning strategies
  • usability
  • design and evaluation
Birmingham Research and Development: The consultancy organisation for the University, BRDL manage consultancy contracts with University staff. Useful if University resources are required as well as consultancy expertise.
