HCI Course - description
Course Description
Overview
Over the course of the next few months, you will learn about the basic
principles of human-computer interaction and will then apply them.
In particular, you will
- find out what people want in a new system or product
- develop a requirements specification
- design it
- evaluate a working prototype
- redesign to rectify the problems
The coursework schedule takes you through an HCI-oriented design lifecyle for a complete system, so that you can experience how the different HCI techniques come together to influence the design and implementation of a total solution.
Learning the skills
You are expected to work through the material and exercises and do the
indicated reading for each of the stages in the lifecycle. This will
give you the necessary theoretical background, which you can then
apply to your particular project. Note that this material will not be
covered in lectures - you are responsible for aquiring the skills yourself.
You will be assessed at various stages during the course, and feedback will be given on your performance.
