HCI course - syllabus and student presentations
HCI in context:

Diagram is taken from the ACM SIG CHI, and puts all
the aspects of HCI into an overall framework. Ignore the U/H/C/D letters,
but notice how it reflects the human, the computer, the context of use, and
then evaluation, design and examples. Our structure is outlined below.
- What
is HCI – design, models, evaluation.
Need to understand people, computers and methods
- Basic human abilities - vision, hearing, touch, memory
- Computers
– speed, interfaces, widgets, and effects on interaction
- People
– psychology, ergonomics, etc.
- Interaction
styles
- Design
guidelines
- User-centered
design, task analysis/GOMS
- Technology
and change
- Web
page design
- Evaluation
- Mobile
devices – issues (design,
limitations, where next)
- Games
