New weather forecasts

The BBC have replaced the traditional sun, rain, & fog icons with 3D graphics. Why? all I ever want to know about the weather is 'Will it rain tomorrow?'. the old icons gave this information a lot more clearly than the new graphics. they're trying to make the forecast more exciting, but that's not what it should be about. usability and simplicity are the key.

Comments:
Next time you watch the weather take note how the country appears to flood...

these new graphics have kicked up quite a storm (sorry). my initial reaction was just that it made things less clear, but now the Scots are angry because, in the new tilted 3D map, Scotland looks far smaller than southern England! I watched again this morning and really tried to work out what the weather would be in my area, and couldn't. I wonder if the BBC did any user testing of these graphics...

Just get forecast fox for firefox.....

No need to watch crap weather on tv, it's right infront of you whenever your infron of you pc :)

Viewers force BBC forecast change.... Although they only plan to change the angle to keep the Scots happy - ``The change to the tilt of the map will allow viewers to see more of the north of England and Scotland."
