abstract = "The study of hybrid systems is becoming increasingly
popular. They have enjoyed a particular growth in
interest since the 1990s. Most of the focus on the
subject has been oriented toward the design of
controllers and on the development of a complete
control theory. However, this work looks at hybrid
systems from a synthesis point of view. More precisely,
it aims at developing an automated design synthesis
method to the design of hybrid mechatronic systems. In
order to achieve that, hybrid bond graphs are used to
model the physical systems, and evolutionary
computation is used to explore the search space.
