Background
Yuxuan (Shaun) Zhan was born in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in the People's Republic of China. He received his M.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London under the supervision of Maria Petrou in 2009. Since 28 September 2009 he has been working on model-based image reconstruction in high-density diffuse optical tomography (HD-DOT) as his Ph.D. in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham with collaborators at Washington University in St. Louis. Members of his thesis group include Hamid Dehghani (supervisor), Ela Claridge and Iain Styles.
