Directions to the School

The School of Computer Science is located on the main Edgbaston campus near the University train station: Y9, Yellow Zone on the Edgbaston campus map.

Please note that parking on campus is in high demand, and where possible public transport is recommended.

Travelling by train

There are clear signposts to our building, and we are a minute’s walk from the University train station (turn left as you exit and you will see our building to the right of the metal statue). Our ‘University’ train station is two stops from Birmingham New Street/approximately 8 minutes journey. ‘The University’ station is on the train-line with a destination of ‘Longbridge’ or’ Redditch’ – please look for either of these when looking for the correct train at Birmingham New Street. Travelling by car

Visitors to campus are requested to park in any of our 3 pay & display car parks. Locations can be seen on the Edgbaston campus map and are:

  • North East Car Park (access via Pritchatts Road) Sat Nav Postcode B15 2SA
  • North Car Park (access via Pritchatts Rd) Sat Nav Postcode B15 2SB
  • Pritchatts Road Car Park (at the junction with Vincent Drive) Sat Nav Postcode B15 2QU

The three car parks above are peripheral car parks and can be accessed without entering the main campus. Visitor charges are currently:

  • Up to 1 hour £2.00
  • 1-3 hours £3.00
  • 3-5 hours £4.00
  • 5-8 hours £6.00

The nearest pay and display car park to the School of Computer Science is Pritchatts Road car park. You can view a walking route from any of the car parks to Computer Science by visiting http://walkit.com.

Visitors who require access to the main campus for business purposes should get in touch with their contact in our department to request a permit which should be hung from the rear view mirror of their vehicle. Visitors in possession of a hanger style permit issued by the department they are visiting should note that it cannot be used in the North East multi-storey car park.

Please be advised that enforcement procedures are in place in all University parking areas and penalty notices will be issued to all vehicles that fail to comply with parking regulations.
