School of Computer Science

Open Days and Outreach

Reading and research can give you vital information about a university. But it's not the same as seeing it for yourself. At Birmingham you are welcome to visit, talk to students, explore the campus, see where you might live, and come to your own conclusions.

Open Days

These days provide excellent opportunities to speak to academic staff, CS students and to explore the University.

Campus tours

Birmingham encourages prospective students to come and see the University, so we run general events throughout the year. Guided campus tours are organised every Tuesday and Thursday at 11.00am and 2.00pm. Please note that booking for these tours is essential and do not include visits to individual departments or halls of residence.

Outreach within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences

At Birmingham we believe University should be an option available to everyone. We provide opportunities for students and staff to inspire the next generation of computer scientists, and we develop and provide resources for children, parents and teachers to use at home and in the classroom. The University works with teachers and careers advisors to ensure that talented students from all backgrounds and cultures have access to higher education. We host visits, arrange talks and events to help introduce students to Birmingham, and provide information about routes to study here.
