The real files for the Unix (and now Linux) Help System are in a different directory.
Please follow this link.

The edinburgh version is available here (later version): http://unixhelp.ed.ac.uk/

A possibly more useful and up to date tutorial at the university of Surrey: http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/

My thanks to those in Edinburgh and elsewhere who have made this collection of help information available.

Please note that not all the utilities and facilities mentioned in the document are Unix facilities, though they run under Unix, e.g. the Micro-Emacs editor. Some of them will not be available here in Birmingham.

Moreover, it looks as if some of the information is correct for "Berkeley" type Unix systems but not for other versions of Unix, e.g. HP-UX, Solaris 2.x, and linux. I shall try correct all reported errors.

WARNING: some of the links to general information about Unix are not links to the local files that I have copied over, but pointers to World Wide Web files at remote sites. Since the links were inserted here in the 1990s it is very likely that many of them no longer work.

However most of the files are local to this directory.
