If ved_latex exists, rename it, to protect old versions of files mv ved_latex ved_latex.old 3. Install lnks in standard local directories If directories these directories do not exist $poplocal/local/auto $poplocal/local/help $poplocal/local/teach then create them or make sure that permissions are set so as to allow them to be created by latex.install script. The directories must be writeable by whoever is doing the installation. 4. Run the shell script ved_latex/latex.install This will make links in the help, auto and teach directories to the files in this directory, after first saving old versions in a directory called saved. Check the contents of this directory in case something precious is about to be removed! Otherwise you can remove the contents of the saved directory. FURTHER INFORMATION help/ved_latex Is the help file HELP VED_LATEX teach/latex.tex Is an editable template file for use with latex2e. It can easily be changed to work with latex209 auto/ved_latex.p is the main file for running latex. latex.tar A shell script that can be used to create a tar file latex.install A shell script that can be run to make links from $poplocal/local/ved_latex/auto $poplocal/local/ved_latex/help $poplocal/local/ved_latex/teach to directories in the $poplocal/local directory. It should be run in the directory $poplocal/local/ved_latex Note that some of the files in the auto/ directory are linked together. Changes are described in the News section of the help file, or at the ends of the relevant library files. These could be copied to HELP LOCALNEWS.
